Warm Caramel Sauce

 
This is a wonderful and flavourful sauce to go as a topping on ice cream or other desserts like  the  Apple Raisins Bread Pudding.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
1 cup golden yellow cane sugar (or brown sugar)
1 cup whipping cream
1 tsp. rum extract

To make the sauce;

In a small saucepan, melt butter. 

Stir in sugar until smooth, about 2 minutes. 

Add the whipping cream and bring to a simmer, cooking until sauce thickens, for about 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in the rum flavouring.

Drizzle while still warm on individual servings of desserts like bread pudding or on top of ice cream.
