Memories of Europe

As some of you may have noticed, I had fewer posts than usual  as I ’ve been away… I was very fortunate to have the possibility to spend the last month in Europe. We travelled through eight countries and had  the opportunity to experience other cultures and taste some delicious  food and desserts… It was amazing!  But now I’m back and it really feels good to be home right now and getting back into the swing of things.

I thought I would share with you some pictures from my trip.

One of the places I liked was Bergheim, which is one of the medieval town of Alsace; a beautiful region of France.  Restaurants, with their terraces and street cafes invite you to relax and take in the beauty  of the town…

The region is famous for its pretzels,  among other things.

This is a very large loaf of bread that was...

for sale in front of one of the bakeries. They would sell it the same way they sell deli meats here in the grocery.  The patron would order the size/weight they wanted and it would be cut off from the rest of the bread…very neat!

Slovenia was a beautiful surprize. A nice country, much like Austria, with beautiful scenery, friendly people and great food. There are some amazing caves, one of which we visited  was, Postojna Cave. A train ride takes you into the depth of the 5 km long cave.

This castle, Predjama Castle,  was actually carved into the stone!

It was Oktoberfest in Austria when we were there and pumpkins and fall decor were everywhere…

….and last stop, Germany.

Hope you enjoyed my mini tour. Now summer is over and fall has presented itself in full swing—the house longs to be filled with smells of baked goods, so the kitchen is beckoning and that’s where I’ll be!
